If you have questions for Frances, please feel free to share them in the chat here! We'll have a few minutes for Q&A near the end of the hour.
Here are the slides for download:
And for anyone who joined us a little late, here's a copy of the grant guidelines...
If you have questions for Frances, feel free to put those in the chat.
Would institutes of higher education be eligible as the nonprofit entity? I joined late so pardon me if this has been addressed.
Thanks, Erik, we'll share your question with Frances when we hit the Q&A portion!
I have a collaborative project that has been ongoing for several years where the lead artist has been volunteering her time and donating all materials. Would she be eligible to apply to get this continuing project funded? Or does it need to be a brand new project? Could she possibly add on a new dimension to the project, if it does need to be new?
Thanks, Dana, we'll share the question with Frances during Q&A.
To be more competitive, would you recommend asking for less funding? For example, if we submit for $45k, would you ever reduce our award amount to $30k or should we apply for $30k to begin with?
Hi Kristal, Frances mentioned earlier not to undersell yourself if it takes more funding to get the work done, but I can share your question with her!
Feedback survey!: https://creativeworkfund.org/survey
And next up: https://learning.candid.org/training/2020-10-22-virtual-meet-the-grantmakers-bay-area-funders-for-individual-artists/
Does the lead artist need to demonstrate any financial hardship to be eligible for the grant?
If our project is more abstract does the Creative work fund frown on that
if art is sacred in nature, can you collaborate with a church or denomination?
I meant abstract
On the note of specific topics, does the creative work fund prioritize progressive projects in any way?
Once more for any latecomers, the slide deck and grant guidelines are attached...
To confirm from someone’s earlier question: will CWF ever award less funding than was requested, or do they typically only award the requested amount?
what is Marcel”s number?
what kind of presentations are you looking for, for finished work? I’m afraid of events being difficult with COVID
just FYI thanks. I never got an email to announce this and there’s no link in the event
I had the same issue with a link to the event
So, the key gating issue appears that if you don’t pass the Test don’t bother to apply?
Must the lead artist have an identity or business separate from that of the sponsoring nonprofit or other qualifying institution?
If we are a choreographer and we want to do an outdoor piece is the city of sf parks n rec etc a 501c3? Or how do we plan ahead without the funding yet?
To confirm from someone’s earlier question: will CWF ever award LESS funding than was requested, or do they typically only award the requested amount? Some grantors do this while others don’t - thanks!
i wrote a question as well.
