1) For the letters of inquiry, do we fill out a form online in the application portal or do we apply online and attached documentation? And, if it is an online narrative form, can we write it outside of the portal and copy and paste?

How many Letters turn into Proposals and how many awards are given?

Are any collaborators allowed to be outside of the Bay? We have a bay non profit and 4 artists together - 3 in SF and one not. Is that okay?

Would you consider the culinary arts to be eligible? In this particular case we are partnering with live musicians outside of a food pantry line and thought it would be a great tie in with our food justice initiatives.

Both the artist and the non-profit representatives must complete an eligibility quiz. Do both the artist and the non-profit representative receive log-in credentials and if so are these accounts linked? Or does one of the representatives receive the credentials and submit on behalf of both the artist and the non-profit organization?

can you give a few examples of collaborative end projects outside of performances?

Are the eligibility requirements about the artist -- ie, mid-career, vs early career? If an artist has only been producing work for 5 years or so a competitive applicant?

an individual artist currently volunteers (is NOT paid) as the artistic director for a theater program at a non-profit. can that artist submit an application?

Is it necessary for the participating artists to have websites?

1-So sorry, I missed when Frances said re: more than 2-3 years, if she said “not acceptable” or “acceptable”
2. If our potential lead artist is temporarily not residing in the Bay Area, what factors would indicate that he is a Bay Area resident — is it a permanent address, or what other factors might be considered?
3. In our case, we are a youth arts org considering application with a lead artist. We fully understand that this is not an education grant. We are thinking about this potential project as a rich collaboration between youth artists and an adult artist — that the work is specifically enriched by the unique perspectives of youth. Is this in line with the goals of CWF?

I know that you said to build in a cushion of time for COVID. There may be some components of collaboration that is planned in person or online which methods of execution may vary depending on COVID risks and public health conditions that are unknown or uncertain. Do you recommend acknowledging this in the project description and if so what is your preference in terms of spelling out any A versus B planning if any? Or are you recommending making one solid plan and wait it out?

Are the healing arts also eligible if integrated with other artists?

Yes. The recording will be shared.

1) Can you speak to projects where there is a lead artist working with the nonprofit but also has other contributing community members that would pitch in to the making of the final art piece? For example if there was a mural that includes members of the community participation that helps put together some of the mural.2) And, you mention not covering teaching. If there is a component of the project where there is some teaching to the community for them to be able to contribute to a mural that is not the bulk of the project/majority of the project budget. Is this okay?And, would this type of project be competitive?

I’m confused by what you just said about being more competitive with partner selection. If you want a “deep and sincere” partnership, you are not likely to be proposing also a “new” partnership. We want to elevate an ongoing community partner by having our first official collaboration. Is this not competitive?

By ‘official’, I mostly mean ‘funded’

Are projects funded that are mostly for development - in that case…what sample outcomes might be? For instance…does their have to be an artwork as an outcome, or can outcome be - the further development of the idea…for further fundraising, for instance...
